Name: | Lambdadelta |
---|
TEACHES ALCHEMY
SLYTHERIN
WAND:
Phoenix feather, walnut, 16 inches, reasonably flexible.
HISTORY:
- Born to a prestigious, ancient pureblood family. Snobs. Money everywhere.
- Always interested by curses and the Dark Arts. Parents spoil her and nurture her natural cruelty towards other people.
- Goes to Hogwarts from her first year. She passes all her classes with flying colors and her arrogance only rises.
- She is known as the dumb girl despite her grades. She purposely hides her marks unless the teachers announce them, and puts up a front of being very stupid. It's all to be underestimated and to watch the moment when someone realizes how out of their depth they are.
- She does very little in her first six years at Hogwarts. She is very patiently biding her time.
- In her last year, she enters the dueling club and the chess club. She tears both up. Her lightning fast draw and her fluid way of casting spells as well as her talent in wandless magic makes her an opponent without match in the dueling club. In the chess club a similar story is told: she always leads her opponent on so that they believe they are winning, and at the very last moment she turns around and destroys her opponent mercilessly. She plans to burn a hole in Hogwart's history.
- It's during a school-hosted tournament-- the chess club got a lot of interest that year thanks to Lambdadelta's quarter-Veela charm-- that Lambdadelta finally meets her match.
- Defeat comes in the form of a long haired girl with a quiet voice and a mild expression. An unknown who registered at the very last minute. The chessmatch is incredibly tense and not a single word is spoken between them: not even a taunt. Looking at it from any inexperienced angle, you'd say Lambdadelta was winning until the very last five minutes. But if you knew your stuff, you'd see that this girl had her completely cornered. It was a battle of wills and an open taunt. She is the first to beat her in her time at the chess club, and she disappears into the crowd the moment the match is over. They don't run into each other after, and conveniently graduation is the next day.
- Lambdadelta falls totally in love. It is with open obsession and marked eeriness that she looks this girl up and finds out her name, her pedigree, her grades and her home address. Frederica Bernkastel. It's a suiting name for someone as beautiful as she is, Lambdadelta thinks. But upon showing up to her house she finds Bern nowhere and a year is spent searching for her before she realizes she needs to better herself in order to face her again.
- So the next ten years of her life are spent doing just that. She studies magic, chess, literature and culture. The Dark Arts as well. At the five year mark, her entire family disappears without a trace, and though investigation is cast no one is able to prove Lambdadelta's association.
- She learns alchemy. She learns how to predict the future with preciseness none have seen before. She engineers new spells and shares none of her secrets with anyone.
- A dream hits her early on into her learning to future predict: it is a prophetic vision, and it tells her in vague terms that "someone you desire will make themselves known in a familiar place". She automatically takes this to mean she'll meet Bernkastel at Hogwarts, and immediently applies for a job. It takes a few weeks to get the position she wants, but she gets it. It's not her specialty but she is very skilled in Alchemy and she would rather not share her magical knowledge on other topics! So a dead science and branch of magic with no other purpose will do just fine.
- As she goes on, she teaches at Hogwarts and continues her studies.
- Decades pass, and Bernkastel does not appear. That's okay. Lambdadelta's predictions have never proven to be wrong and she's only refined her information over the years. She is very patient.
- And that patience rewards itself: Bern comes in as a teacher, and Lambdadelta is overjoyed.
